Setting up your SketchSlate

Congrats on snagging a SketchSlate! We are excited for you to get creating with it. There are a few good practices to know when using your board to ensure your SketchSlate and iPad stay happy and healthy.

Magnetic Legs

The SketchSlate Studio includes legs that are designed to magnetically stick together for easy portability. Simply pull them apart to separate them and snap them back together and throw them in your bag when on the go.

Attaching legs to the SketchSlate

To attach your magnetic legs to your SketchSlate Studio, find the attracting magnet on the backside of your board for each leg. There are three magnets on the back of each board to provide the option of using your SketchSlate Studio in either portrait or landscape orientation.

Removing your iPad (with charging cable detached)

If your iPad is not attached to a charging cable, simply remove your Apple Pencil from the top slot of the board, and use the opening to remove your iPad from the SketchSlate's magnetic slot.

Connecting your iPad to charging cable

To charge your iPad while using the SketchSlate Studio, first insert your charging cable through the charger slot of the board. Then plug the charging cable into your iPad, and lastly slide your iPad back into the SketchSlate Studio.

Removing the charging cable

To remove the charging cable from your iPad, lift your iPad from the top left corner of the Apple Pencil cut out slot of the SketchSlate Studio. Lift the left side of your iPad slightly above the edge of the board and slide your iPad out. Unplug the charging cable and remove it from the board.

A few more things to keep in mind

Due to the thinness of the board, the routed out charging slot in the SketchSlate Studio is designed to fit the original Apple charging cable that came with your iPad. Any cable bigger than that will not fit.

If you are using your iPad for long periods of time and running power intensive apps, please be aware that the iPad can heat up (particularly the M1 iPad Pro models). If you notice your iPad getting too hot, simply give it a few minutes outside of the SketchSlate to cool down. We are not responsible for any issues that may be caused by overheating as a result of not following these safety measures.

Also, please keep in mind that all boards/magnetic feet are hand made and cut from unique sheets of high grade plywood, so grain patterns will differ from those shown on our website.
